I am a Lecturer in Religion & Politics at the University of Stirling. I previously, held teaching positions at the University of Edinburgh and the American University of Beirut.

My research interests centre on changing notions of Religion and Politics in Islamic traditions in premodern and modern periods.
I study the early formative period of Arabic oral and textual production in light of contemporary developments and philosophy. My approach is multidisciplinary in focus by drawing from anthropology, sociology, history, and philosophy and aims to understand the dynamics of the transmission of knowledge as a catalyst for community formation.
